Client: Cheese Packaging Company – Re package cheese in Selection boxes for major retailers
Issue: Our client peaks at Christmas and agency usage increases from 0-10 per day to 120 + at peak for a 4 week period
What our client needed: Agency numbers increase dramatically for a very short period, staff still need to meet the clients expectations in terms of calibre, competency, level of English and flexibility
How did we satisfy our client’s needs and help them achieve their seasonal goals?
We commenced weekly Christmas meetings well in advance of the seasonal contract starting. The team at Skills Direct Ltd brainstormed ideas on how we could most effectively source the candidates needed. We talked about using our branch network and 4 branches supported this uplift, with transport being provided from Trowbridge, Frome, Shepton, Bridgwater and Yeovil. The team at Skills Direct started a vigorous Social Media campaign on Facebook, this produced a great deal of the candidates required. Job Centre days, open days and leaflet drops were also completed throughout the local area.
Skills Direct Ltd then completed a thorough interview and induction process, so that we were confident the calibre of staff we had recruited would meet our clients expectations. We completed all onsite inductions and ensured that candidates had completed all relevant paperwork an advance of contract starting.
Once the contract started we had a dedicated Key Account Manager based onsite at the start of each shift and they were responsible for checking in staff, dealing with new starters, ensuring staff checked in and out correctly and arrived with correct PPE.
The contract ran very smoothly and in a currently very challenging staffing market, Skills Direct came up with the goods and supplied the calibre and numbers needed. We have now secured this business for next year.
